What is the optimum temperature for food storage? Tips and suggestions.

The optimum temperature for many aliments sometimes we might worry. For this reason, we will try to provide few optimal temperatures for some foods.

Beef and chicken we can store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. So, we keep it wrapped in plain, clean paper. We will clean it with a dry cloth and take care not to leave any blood stains.

Fresh fish we can store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Also, we should clean and dry it, wrapped in paper and well insulated, as it could spread the smell.

Cooked meats we can store in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 days. It will not be able to stay in the fridge anymore, even the dry or summer salami.

We can keep the eggs outside the refrigerator, in a dry, airy place, at a temperature of 5 – 6 degrees C (41-43 °F). We do not recommend to put the eggs at low temperature or even below 0 degrees C (32 °F).

The yolk we can still keep in the refrigerator, but only if we put over a layer of oil.

The optimum temperature for dairy products

Dairy products we can keep in a freezer at about 18 degrees C below zero (0 °F), half a year and even longer. Provided that over the usual package, wrap them in foil or aluminum foil. We can keep cheese for example for up to 8 months, and sour cream for three months. There would still be a condition to maintain the dairy for so long, to keep it in small quantities.

The uncooked milk we can place for a day or two in the fridge or in a place where we have the temperature at 10 to 12 degrees C (50 to 54 °F).

Sour cream we can store in a refrigerator at 5 – 7 degrees C (41-45 °F) in a glass storage containers.

The cow’s cheese can last for about two weeks if stored at a temperature of 4 to 6 degrees C (39-43 °F) in the refrigerator.

The beaten, whipped cream we can store for up to 24 hours in a fridge, well sealed in glass storage containers.

Root vegetables we can keep at low temperatures between 0 and 2 degrees C (32-36 °F) in natural packs, wood, straw, rush, reed.

Potatoes are kept in the dark in winter, in boxes or on a bed of straw at a temperature of 1 – 3 degrees C (34-37 °F).

Onions dry well, need to keep it for winter at a temperature similar to that of potatoes. Onions are stored in woven ropes, hanging in the air, or in boxes.

We can store margarine outside the refrigerator for up to 15 days if the temperature does not exceed 30 degrees C (86 °F). At 0 degrees C (32 °F), margarine can last up to 2 months. It also resists butter, especially if it is well packed. Also, apply a foil wrapper over the paper wrapper. In this foil, the butter we can keep in the freezer for up to half a year.

The broth we can keep it for a long time if the temperature does not exceed 10 – 12 degrees C (50 – 54 °F) in the storage area. But above it should we can put a layer of oil to cover it. Even in the refrigerator, at lower temperatures, the broth did not keep you intact. So pour over a layer of vegetable oil.

Grapes are more demanding regarding storage temperature. It must oscillate around 0 degrees C (32 °F).

Bananas we can keep them in optimal conditions at a temperature that fluctuates around 10 degrees C (50 °F) (an extra or minus degree)

Jams need to maintain their qualities at a temperature between 10 and 15 degrees C (50 – 59 °F).
